The essence of business is turning relationships into profitable accepted offers. This presentation focuses on the process of developing client relationships and how these relationships evolve into opportunities that win work to build business. 3 Key Takeaways:
Items to take back to the office: Educate staff about relationship marketing and how they can use it in developing client relationships that win work and build your business. This can be done through a lunchtime workshop. Staff should include marketing, business development and sales as well as technical and management. Work closely with staff to create a relationship marketing mindset by educating them about the linkages between client relationships and business building. Engage yourself with your staff throughout this process.
About the Speakers:
Ray Stokes is a Business Development Leader at Burgess & Niple, Inc. (B&N), a 420 person firm specializing in architectural, planning, engineering and environmental services. Ray is an expert in relationship marketing and uses his skills to build business for B&N throughout his 36 years there. He works closely with staff to create a relationship marketing mindset by educating them about the linkages between client relationships and business building. Ray was B&N’s Bridge Inspection Director from 1985 to 2000. Under Ray’s leadership, B&N become a national leader in bridge inspection. He was B&N’s Transportation Business Development Director from 2000 to 2009. Since 2010, Ray is building business with Ohio municipalities. Ray is very active in the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and currently serves as a mentorship advisor. In 2009, he published an article titled “Relationship Marketing” in SMPS’s first newsletter. Ray is also a member of the Linked Group: Relationship Marketing Network.
